📗 Books Reviews

Back

I published a book review. These reviews are based on reading journals I write when reading books. I read that the act of writing is a better way to read, think, learn and create. So I'm taking small notes during the actual reading. After a few days - or sometimes weeks - I collect the comments into an article, adding citations, integrating everything with my now processed thoughts about the book. They are meta-thoughts about the book because they are not about the content, they are about the author, what he tried to do, how well I understood his intentions, what kind of thought I had when reading the book.

Either way, the "Essentialism" book review is relatively short and simple because it was a short and simple self-help book. I like this genre of books. There are bad ones and there are good ones of course, but from an early age I was drawn to this genre because I felt these books are like guides for life, like philosophy was in its early days. So maybe self-help books are a modern-day, simplified versions of life philosophies.
